Our mission is to advance equitable change and promote the well-being of BRIDGEPORT'S CHILDREN, YOUTH, AND FAMILIES through AUTHENTIC PARTNERSHIPS WITH CIVIC, COMMUNITY, AND ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERS .

Our Initiatives

  • EARLY CHILDHOOD INITIATIVES

Our goal is to ensure that children are happy, healthy, and developmentally ready for preschool at three years of age.

That means starting early — from birth — since 80% of a child’s brain growth happens by age three. This period of rapid growth lays the foundation for all future learning, behavior, and health.

  • CAREER PATHWAYS

Our goal is to improve outcomes in middle grade math, high school graduation, college enrollment and graduation, and provide workforce development options for residents.

We joined forces with a vibrant group of innovators comprised of educators, business and civic leaders, faith-based groups, nonprofits, state government, and youth-serving entities to provide access to opportunities.

  • Community Engagement

Our goal is to establish these initiatives and investments in the community, and with community input and design.

We uplift the voices and lived experiences of residents and leaders — known as Community Messengers, Parent and Youth Ambassadors — to do this crucial work that is at the core of each initiative.

  • COMMUNITY RESILIENCE

Our goal is to raise awareness of the impact of trauma on health and life outcomes in order to address and prevent it.

We offer tools for building social-emotional health and resilience, working to prevent trauma by increasing the prevalence of positive childhood experiences with community partners.

All children and families deserve an equitable opportunity to thrive, leading to stronger communities.

“When we are willing to work not with community but in community, that is when transformation is possible.” — Stacey Abrams
