  • Prenatal & Postnatal Services

    We advocate for policies and practices that are trauma-informed to ensure health and well-being for all birthing people and parents. This includes access to universal home visiting programs, maternal mental health, support groups, and doula care.

  • Parent Education

    We share a neuroscience-informed skill-building tool known as the Bridgeport Basics™ with 27 partners in 5 sectors. Practicing the Bridgeport Basics™ every day helps children reach their full potential. Watch our videos and download resources that you can use and share today.

  • On-Track Child Development

    We equip families with a mobile App known as Sparkler. It helps parents advance and monitor child development. We also host resource fairs, workshops, and events such as the “Sparkler Olympics” with local partners.

  • Early Language & Literacy Tools

    We distribute evidence-informed early literacy tools in healthcare settings through our partners, Reach Out & Read and Read To Grow. We also provide books and information for families at local events with help from partner organizations.

  • Social-Emotional Learning

    We provide access to caregiver-child classes that build early relational health, reduce social isolation and maternal stress, and build early brain development through Music Together of Fairfield County.

Bridgeport Prospers is leveraging technology to reach our goal of all children attending school in Bridgeport and reading on grade level. The Sparkler App Mobile Technology campaign emphasizes the importance of Developmental and Behavioral Health Screening in early childhood education settings, promoting early identification and intervention to improve reading proficiency. Additionally, the implementation of the Lexia online reading program — in partnership with Bridgeport Public Schools — has yielded positive results, showing that 72% of students are meeting recommended usage time. Additionally, 83% of the students in kindergarten and 56% of first grade students are accessing Lexia content on or above grade level, indicating tangible progress in early grade reading proficiency.
